Okay, I'm secure enough in my manhood to tell this story because it's funny and it's definitely something you don't see on this site everyday. I open by stating that these are NOT my shoes and I NEVER put them on!
This would be a great way to make money for your hobby fund though....

So, we have our daughter's wedding coming up this Saturday. My wife buys a Royal Blue dress for the wedding. She needs a pair of Royal Blue shoes to go with it. She has a pair of white silk shoes that have only been worn once, so she goes to the Formal Attire shop. New shoes are $100 and to re-dye the white shoes to Royal Blue is $50. With the wedding and all, we are eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches until the end of the month and we just don't have any cash left!
So I suggested she dye the shoes herself. My wife was terrified of the thought, neither of us having ever dyed anything. She had this image of walking into the reception with blue hands and feet.....
So I half jokingly said, "Well, I could airbrush them for you..." and over the weekend the white shoes appeared on my workbench!
So I quietly said an "Oh Sh#t" and went to work. I masked off the soles, heels, and interior. Went to the LHS and matched the dress (I had a shoulder pad hidden in my pocket) to Tamiya X-3 Royal Blue perfectly. Came home, mixed it up, and started shooting. Peeled off the tape this morning, and wow, they came out perfectly! Total cost - $3.75!
So if you went into business airbrushing women's dress shoes you could charge $40 a pair and make a killing! I won't be doing it professionally though, but it was pretty funny!

Nice finish are you going to do any chipping?

It'll be interesting to see how to hold up to wear and tear on the day.

Haha, Matt, that's pretty funny! They came out looking great, although a bit dull. Perhaps a coat of future is in order

Congratulations on your daughter's wedding! I hope you all have a great one!

I expect they'll be rather uncomfortable at AMPS-EAST, but you'll look good in them with the killer T-shirt.

Better patent those before they become the next cyber hobby 'what if" kit!

Very nice, Matt...for the prototype. I'm pretty sure that heel was 2.5mm shorter on the production model, and my references say there was a bow involved...although that could have been a field modification.

Congrats, and hope the wedding is a blast.

Cheers,
Mike

I have to give it a Thumbs down sorry Matt.

Why you ask no Mud or Dirt stains no rain streaks and no high lighting of the wear pattern.

Shame on you. Matt.

A good read and congrats on one kid out the house.
Best of luck.

Cheers

Okay,
So, we have our daughter's wedding coming up this Saturday.

SAY WHAT! You're daughtrer's wedding is WHEN? The reception damn well better be at the same hotel as AMPS East. Or maybe these shoes aren't for your wife. Maybe you're going to Provincetown for a dress up weekend!

Seriously, my best wishes to her and the rest of your family. And as the bride's daddy, it's okay to a little bit.

Do you have photographic evidence for that paint scheme? I just don't think that mark of high heel was ever originally issued in that color. Nice "What if"

Congrats to you and your family on your daughter's wedding.
Cheers,

Excellent stuff, and it will be interesting to see how they hold up. Congratulations on your daughters wedding, and have a great day.
I'm just hoping my Beloved doesn't see this thread, she has about 200 pairs of shoes that could no doubt be in a different colour .

Thanks for all the good wishes guys! I have 3 more daughters!
Yes, her wedding is the same day as IPMS AMPSEast, my clubs' show, which I am allegedly in charge of!
The wedding is at 4 thank God, so I'll do the show until 1 and then go over to the wedding. (My wife is a saint!) My guys can take care of the rest and Georg and JG will hand out the awards. I'll be watching my daughter get married.
Running a show and marrying off a daughter in the same day - anybody got any Xanax?
Wait, maybe I have time to fit in an IRS audit at 2!

Well I must say that is total different and I love the idea !!!!

However , you should start practicing walking around the house first with them on and remember when walking on grass stay on your toes so the heel doesn't sink in .

Have you pick out a hand bag to go with them ?

Congrat's on your daugthers wedding I wish them all the best in their new lives

You could put another gloss coat to apply decals, though...

So? Did they survive the wedding? Did you survive the wedding? How about an after shot.
