Being that it's 911 I thought it appropriate to post this.

"The Silent Drill Team." I saw them in July of 1966 in Washington, D.C. when I was a Lance Corporal. You will notice that there is no cadence called, nor expressed by their marching. They move totally silent, except for the sound of hands hitting the rifles (which are if I remember around 9.5 pounds ea.). Beautiful...makes your proud to be a Marine at Headquarters, USMC, 8th and Eye St. they did their entire drill on grass that summer night. This was the price of a free bus ride into Washington from Ft. Lee, where we were training, and it's the best free offer I ever took. HQMC is also where they took the President for his defense when the British invaded the Capitol during the War of 1812.

I've seen "The Silent Drill Team" many times over the years, first time when I was in the service. They never stop amazing me.
Some of my best friends are Marines.
Mostly older than most.

Great precision on the team.
Thanks for putting it up.
Don't remember seeing Mike Mummy there though.

Mike is far from silent.
