For those of you who are interested in the Special Forces of WW 2 a book Incident at Jebel Sherif, about the first combat between the British Long Range Desert Group (LRDG) and the Italian Compagnia Autosahariana ((January 31 1941) has been released.

The authors Kuno Gross, Roberto Chiarvetto and Brendan O'Carroll traveled to Libya last year to retrace the route of the LRDG patrol which had attacked an Italian airbase and Kufra oasis; more importantly they visited the between the LRDG and CA which is perfectly preserved because it is so isolated (from that perspective it is almost a perpetual reenactment ) .

The book has some really good background to the special forces involved, the actions leading to the fight and to the battle itself; plus it details two trips to the battlesite with some great photos of well preserved LRDG trucks and Italian relics.

The book is only available internationally via Kuno Gross via the website.
