I have bought this product because i thought it was a primer. reading here, I see that i was wrong. It is used to create textures.
can anyone who had used it shed some light on it?
thank you very much in advance

It can be used for texturing, eliminating gaps (liquid putty) and for priming. Use your trusty airbrush + laquer thinner + a few amounts of this stuff and prime away. Ever since I had that product, I used it for priming my subjects. Very useful stuff. Alternatively, you could buy their surfacer in spray cans. Easier and less messier for priming, but it cannot be used for texturing and eliminating gaps anymore.

Hope this helps

Also, the number indicates coarseness. 500 is the coarsest, 1200 the finest.

I like it too. 1000 grade in a spray can is what I've been using for priming, bottled 500 for filling gaps, texturing etc.

Don't know if your question is answered yet, but here's the procedure for texturing:

I use 500 for cast texture on vehicles. Brush it on with a normal brush and make the texture by tapping a hard brush headon onto it.

the gray areas on this Lee were done like that:

resulting in this after painting:

HTH!

nice model Stefan.
It does help, but i've read that the aerosol version is used as a primer. whats more, that i've ordered the 1000 type. I'll have a go when it arrives with a knock-out model
