I have a chance to purchase a slightly used compressor for $50 bones. I am testing it out but do not have a clue how compressors are supposed to behave. I don't have an airbrush yet or other tool to test out.
When I plug the comp in, it runs smoothly and spits out air. The small regulator does not show a sizable psi output. If I do not have a brush attached, will the pressure not climb?
When I tighten the regulator, the air pressure does not fluctuate at all and it is leading me to think this might be a bad regulator.

If there is nothing stopping the air escaping the pressure will not increase.
