8) Maybe
Excluding stores with poor customer service, whoever can get the purchase to my door for the cheapest price, including shipping, wins. If a purchase costs about the same at multiple stores, I give my business to the one I like best. I try to build large orders to save on shipping and regularly take advantage of free shipping offers.

Simon
1) AFV models
2) 1/35th
3) Dragon, Trumpeter, Tamiya
4) Loyal to the same discounter
5) E-BAY Yes- but only for items not readily available.
6) No- I live 15 minutes from a Mail order shop and the owner is a friend.
7) Where I Shop I get: -Huge Selection, excellent price, no shipping costs (I can pick it up or my friend delivers it). If I call and ask for it on Wednesday- I have it on Saturday....and the Owner is immensely knowledgeable.
8) Yes- but my need for "rare items" is small.
Simon- I would respectfully advise against a "brick and mortar" shop - you can do as well out of a basement- and I think making contacts within local model clubs would help you.

1-All types
2-35,48,72 in that order
3-no real brand preference as long as its a fairly good kit (see reviews here)
4-I always shop around
5-I have purchased a lot from ebay
6-I would buy from an ebay store
7-I would rather pay a bit more for the kit and pay even money for shipping. I don't mind adding a small charge for the box and packing material. Just don't charge the fee then use a recycled box, I'll feel ripped off and not come back. Make sure you indicate that you will charge even shipping and a small fee (if you do charge it).
I have a real mental block over 'buy it now' pricing. I do my research and if a buy it now price can be found through someone elses auction pricing I'll stick out the auction 'wait' and try to get it that way.
8-Hard to find items aren't a draw for me. I don't do much if any of this type of shopping.
