Hi all,

I absolutely love playing Red Orchestra: Ostfront '41- '45 ("RO"), and was just wondering if anybody else plays RO? It's an FPS, and strictly played online, and has been critically acclaimed for its realism and authenticity, as opposed to more arcadish FPS games.

It is set on the Eastern Front, pitting Russians against Germans. Mostly an infantry battles, but there are also maps with vehicles on both sides. Some of the maps are really intense (Konigsplatz comes to mind)

Anyhow, for those interested in knowing more, you can visit www.redorchestragame.com

Cheers all!

I used to play RO and liked it alot, but havenīt played anything the last few years - guess I just got bored with online gaming or other things took priority.

I played alot on one british server - clan run, canīt remember the name right now, but it was allways fun at that server.

Cheers/Jan

I've always enjoyed RO but sometimes it's a pain to get a tank crewed and voice comm is almost essential.

I've heard about Darkest Hour mod. Is it any good? Any idea when the game will be released? I find it kind of strange - one of the original purposes for RO was because there were way too many Western Front FPS games out there, but hardly any Eastern Front ones. And now, they modify RO to produce yet another Western Front / Normandy game......

And yes, Stalingradkessel is just awesome as well; another of my favourite maps...Hell, I love most of the maps LOL

Cheers

this sounds like a pretty awesome game. but do you have to buy the Red orchestra game in order to download and run the darkest hour mod?

the bad news is its on steam, and the graphics arent up to todays standard( well its an older game, not that old though)

the great it has a tough learning curve and relies more on having a level head than Cod and Moh. no crosshairs, more realistic damage, well modelled ballistics, tank damage is realistic.you can lean on things to steady your aim. the graphisc dosent detract fromt he gameplay, you pick a class and stick to it ( well you can change) e.g, tank commanders and crewmen drive tanks, not riflemen and snipers e.t.c,
.
of course your fisrt few goes is worth just using the really bad AI on the practise mode
but for around or under Ģ10, its worth it
and yes the origional files are requred ( i think ) well yeah, it needs the engine.
