hi all.

Im doing a diorama based that its during Operation Varsity (March 24 1945) It took place near the Rhine River, Wesel Germany.

In my diorama i am hoping to put my newly bought Tiger model in it.

My question is: Would this be historically accurate, did Hitler have any tigers in that area?

i have tried looking up info, and only came up with some panzer divisions being in that area.

cheers

Hi Matt,
I'm not a Tiger expert but here's a site that may help.
http://www.fprado.com/armorsite/tigers.htm
www.achtungpanzer.com is a other excellent site.
Has information on the Tiger family and unit break down.

Hi Matt! Probably your best shot would be Schwere Panzer-Kompanie 'Hummel' who employed a number of Tiger 1's of variuos build specifications, a real mish-mash with some anomalies and hybrids. They would have been in the area during their retreat to Koblenz through the months of February to March 45, though came via Aachen, via Elsdorf perhaps a bit to far south for your project.
Also the s.Pz.-Abt. 506 were in the vicinity during operation varsity... However by this time they were equiped with KingTigers and had an attachment of JagdTigers from Panzer-Jaeger-Abteilung 512.
Hope this helps a little, and does not confuse tthings too much!

Phil.
