Ok guys, I need some help. I need to make an EAPU for my Abrams. But I can't find the dimensions for it anywhere.

So if anyone knows of or has the dimensions can I please please please get them from you?

Paul,

If no one has the dimensions available, I can measure a real this weekend at National Guard Drill. What are you looking for: L x W x H and the "indent", or are you also interested in the door sizes, bolt/rivet locations, etc.?

I may do it anyway just to make sure of the actual dimesnsions...

[EDIT] Oops, I just noticed that the title is "M1A2". Are you wanting the turret bustle rack "External Auciliary Power Unit" that is common with those on the M1A1s, or are you wanting the info on the A/C unit in the turret bustle rack on a M1A2 SEP (since the APU is actually under armor in the LH side of the rear hull where one of the fuel tanks was)?

I'm after the full kit and kaboobdle of the Auxilary Power Unit that was in the turret bustle rack....

So LxWxH + indent + door WxL and even if possible the Fan Grate / Exhaust Grate / power outage (or whatever it is)

If you can help, then you are a life saver.

Ok, but let me make sure I'm getting the right unit. You want this one (which was standard on M1A1s and initial M1A2s)?

NOT this unit (which is the A/C unit on a M1A2 SEP)?

My NG only has M1A1s...

Ok thanks to bison126

I've now got the dimensions from an EAPU that he scratchbuilt, but Jeff I'd still like the measurements from the real one....

Thanks

Paul,

I was unable to access the Tracked Vehicle Maintenance facility this past weekend at NG Drill. I also noticed that the M1A1s I could see through the fence did NOT have any EAPUs in their Turret Bustle Racks. Hopefully, even if the mechanics have removed them from all of our Abrams, they have the EAPUs stored in a building.

I will try to go to the facility during the week and try to get the measurements, if you can wait a little while more? Like I stated earlier, I will likely do this no matter what, but I'm trying to get them for you...

Jeff, no worries.

I'm willing to wait, got alot of groundwork to do before I finish my abrams, and besides I think I may have made a mess of a wash on my tank so I think I need to sort that too!

Thanks anyways.

Paul,

I must apologize. The SC Army National Guard DID have EAPUs, but they were recently told to send them all back to the big Army.

I did get some dimensions from the Tech Manual, along with some very detailed assembly drawings. If you can send me the overall dimensions you got from Bison 126, I'll create a scaled drawing using those and the dimensions I have and scaling from the available photos.

Even if I am unable to get this finished to meet your build schedule, it should be useful to others...

May be a little late here, but there are also aftermarket EAPU's around (Legend for example), or I'm sure you could ask on the fleamarket forums if someone has a spare Tamiya or Dragon one.
Unless of course the object is to scratchbuild one for your own practice and satisfaction, in that case I'll just retract my first point

Cheers,
Jim
