I have no Idea as to the measurements of scale except that 1-24;1-25 th scale is 1half inch = 1 foot
if I build for 1-36 scale what would the measurements be?

1/2 " + 1 foot
1'foot=? (1- 36th)
or 1-36th =? 1/36 inch? or 1/4 inch or 18inch = 1 footsome please clue me in!!
if a figure measures 6 inches tall at a mans height of 5'6" is what scale?

1 foot or (12 inches) = .333333333.... or (.33") in 1/36 scale.

6 inch figures are generally 1/12 scale. A man that is 5'6" or (66") will be 1.83" in 1/36 scale. That's 66 divided by 36.

From what I understand the formula, 1/36 is the same as 1 divided by 36.
So, if you measure 1 foot and a half (18") against a 1/1 object, then 18 divided by 36 = .5 or (half inch) in 1/36 scale.

Hope this helps and I hope my information is correct...

Easy way to think about it: 1/32: 1"=32" 1/48: 1"=48" that's how it was explained to me, and it made it easy to remember and work with. Even for an old dog.

Hang on ... going back to the original questions a moment ...

If you build for 1/36 scale (er ... wondering why) the core measurement is that it's three feet to the inch - that is, one-third of an inch on the model corresponds to one foot on the real thing. So your immediate problem is that precious few rulers measure thirds of an inch! Old ones may have some of their length marked in twelfths, though, so life will be a bit easier if you have one (four twelfths is one third, BTW).

If a figure measures 6" tall and corresponds to a height of 5'6", that's 1/11 scale. But as KoSprueOne says, the nearest common figure scale is 1/12, so I'm guessing your chap is actually six feet tall.

It is simple: if you build in 1/36 scale means that you have to devide all real dimensions by 36 to get in-scale size (this concerns linear dimensions - cubical dimensions must be devided by 1296...).

Don't complicate it, we were just getting it sorted there! Actually, dividing by 1296 is for areas - for volumes you need to divide by 46,656. Luckily we only ever need to work with linear dimensions ...
