Hi guys and gals,
ON Discovery Channel in Canada, the show "Combat School" is pretty cool. They show Canadian land forces in training/manuevers. This show is similar to "Truth Duty Valor" that used to be on OLN channel. Check it out if you have this channel. This episode I am watching has a bit everything - troops, LAVIIIs, Leopard tanks, artillary, CF-18s making mock bombing runs.... the whole shabang!
What other shows do you watch? I also like Battle 360, Battlefield Detectives, and Dogfights.
Well, back to your regular scheduled scale model making........
Cheers,
Eric

I got to see an episode of this a couple of weeks ago. Very interesting watching the teaching of how to handle ambushes and escort duty in Afghanistan.

I missed the first three episodes, and Tuesday night again. Hope they release the whole doc on DVD when it's done, or re-run it (which is more likely).

Hi Guys,
First time I saw it - I thought it was a great look at what goes on in training. The brush fire was an unplanned snafu in their plans to attack the "taliban". I think it would be interesting to be the opposing force (sure get to fire a lot of training rounds).
Do you guys know where they do this training? I also liked the computer generated graphics showing the plan of attack.
Next episode - I guess they are in Afghanistan - gotta see that one.
God Bless them and protect them!
Eric

The training involving the OPFOR is and the DFWES (Direct Fire Weapon Effects Simulation) System gear is done in Wainwright.
Fires are common in the training areas.....that the result of using large amounts of pyrotechnics during the exercises......that fire shown in the episode was a relatively small one compared to some of them.....the real fun is when the fire starts to cook off discarded live ammunition!
