5 pound rolls would be a bit much for me. I purchase mine from Tiger Model Designs who also provide some of the best resin accessories available any where.

As a possible alternative, although not as useful, can I suggest that you try the foil which comes in ground coffee packets.... It is considerably cheaper than lead foil and comes ready creased, I have just used some for a tarp. and frankly have seen few things better certainly much better than baking foil... It is also a little thicker, try it and justify the huge caffeine intake most of us indulge in.....Jim #:-) Jim

Drink a good bottle of wine and keep the lead foil around the bottle's neck...

Or go to the dentist and ask for the lead foil backing off the xrays. I have a lifetime supply from only two visits and got it for free.

I would love to follow your advice scoccia but with the possible exception of Italian wine all the bottles on sale in NZ have nasty plastic 'foil' seals. Even corks are on the way out with most winemakers starting to adopt screw tops.
Maybe I just have to drink more Italian wine.
I have some auto battery post shims which are a bit thick but beating s**t out of them with a big hammer results in a passable foil.
Regards Dave

You could try the pharmacy (chemist's) and look for toothpaste or similar products in metal tubes. Carefully cut the tubes open and discard the contents. You then have a good supply of metal.

I hope you are not casting nasturtiams upon my dental hygiene Mike. In Godzone I am not aware of any product that is packed in the old toothpaste tube type lead. All squeezy tubes are of a disgusting plastic material which will not stay rolled up hence resulting in much waste of product. A fact that makes the manufacturers smile no doubt.
No, I think the idea of drinking a lot of Italian wine is more appealing!
How do you make a fine Italian wine. You scratch the paintwork on his Ferrari.
Regards Dave :-)

I tried that last year. He even supplied me with new unfilled tubes. But they are not lead. They are some sort of harder metal alloy type.
Some oil paints come in lead bottles, but food products and medicine are not allowed in (poisdonous) lead anymore...
Wine bottles are still my best source, though the idea of X-ray wrapping appeals to me. Time to get my teeth checked.

True enough, but they don't have to be lead to be useful. Any relatively thin, maleable metal will suit our purposes. I was just trying to suggest a source other than wine bottles. Personally I'm a fan of the wine bottle... so much fun to empty. :-) :-) :-)

Sure wine bottle foil will work, but who drinks wine?? Maybe beer labels will work?? How about using something we all have handy, those little metal tubes your preperation H comes in? I don't use that much but Dave (SS-74)says he goes through at least 1 tube a month. Hmmm no wonder his stuff always looks so nice.

Ya gotta start drinking the good stuff! Scew tops, indeed! Actually, Bella Serra brand has some nice wines at reasonable prices and has good foil.
Hmm, how to score modelers points...bring home some flowers , a nice bottle of foil topped wine ...Just don't let her see you cutting off the foil.

I use the foil covers off the flavore coffee cans. They make great "mirror" glass for the rear view mirrors.

Hows about asking your plumber? Most will have (or know where to obtain enough for your needs ) thin aluminium foil used for 'flashing' roofs etc. I have a roll at home (which 'fell' in to my posession) that is approx. 1ft wide and geez, about 5 yds long and should service me for like eons...
