Hi there!
I'd like to know how I could make tow cables ends from scratch, I always used the kit provided ends just changing the cable, now I have to do the whole piece...
Any suggestions?

This depends on the type of tow cables. Most US ones have preformed ends so the replacing of the wire is enough. Other types, like German WW2 ones, that have the end basically looped and held, that would be a challenge.

Rob, it´s for my EET1 Osorio, and as far as I know its very similar to US tow cables....


What do you mean about replacing the the wire?

I mean cut off the ends of the tow cables and re-use the ends on a piece of twine, string or wire.

you can cut off ends and glue to fine aircraft cable for most US tow cables, BUT as we all know the Marines used a EYE-SPLICE on a lot of the cables on Amtracks and Tanks in the PTO I found that you can make a eye by flatting one end make your eye to size and forming the flat end around the cable use streached spruce as wire wrap .... LOOKS good

I use picture hanging wire, 10 lb size, and heat shrink tubing. An electrical shop should have the tubing. It comes in various sizes and colors and we use it to cover splices in electrical wiring. Make a loop in the wire the size of the eye you need, slide a piece of the tubing cut to the length of the "swedge" to hold the folded back part and pass the tubing over a candle or use a hot air hair dryer to apply the heat. After a few seconds the tubing begins to shrink and VOILA a perfect eye just like they make them at a wire rope shop. HTH

I do not know if you have any or not but if you can get some type 3 nylon other wise known as 550 cord take the inner guts out and use one of the strands paint it blackdry looks just like tow cable well, for 1/35 any ways. you can use the hooks you get in the kits and the cord together or bend it back on it's self to look like a loop[ cable.
