At the recent IMPS Region-V show, some twenty-something and thirty-somthing modellers started asking a couple of us Vietnam and Cold War veterans about our service experience and how it relates to the modelling we do (armor, aircraft, ships, etc.). Given all that is going on, it was a pleasant suprise to be asked questions like "What was was this fitting for on the ___?" or "How did you do ____ in your track?" Nothing judgemental, just genuinely curious.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this recently

I've spent over a quarter century in service to our Nation. I always get asked in person, online and offline on how we did things and if something looks right. Usually by someone who has piled up tank rounds on the back of a tank turret like the live rounds would just be laid about like empty soda cans.

served in armored core, and as I build tanks models, I can figure out sometimes what goes where, and such:)
