title: Yom kippur war 1973
rules : would include any vehicle used during the conflict. All levels no limits.
Est. time 3-4 months

I thought of this as this year is the thirtieth anniverssary of the conflict in October. and New t-55 kit gives new variants to make

Whoa - this thread got away from me. Things get buried quickly around the site. Just "bumping" it back up to the top in case anyone else missed it too

Just a suggestion...Why not aircraft, troops, etc.? This was a true "combined-arms" war.

add a new perspective why not split it down have a few guys doing the same kit? see if they want to form a tank squadron or planes too doesnt really matter then you can combine a group build with a campaign at the same time i.e 1 sqn of merkava's one of tirans, or gang up and be the arab nations could bring a new look to the campaigns

what do you think?

I'd love it !
But I fear it might be too limited to have success ... A middle east wars campaign might encounter more success : 48, 56... 73, 82...
Anyway, it's the kind of subject I love to model !

Shiron, i'm with Penpen on this one all the Arab-Isreali wars would be good, heck we can even include the current conflict between Isreal and Hamas. I got a Merkava IID conversion and I got Merk IIID on the way from the states. This would be great if we can work this into the Campaign. Ah a dio of a Merk III Patroling the PLO headquarters in Hebron. OH the posiblities.......STUG

I agree that broadening the scope to include all the Israeli-Arab conflicts might attract more modelers by giving them a greater selection of models to choose from.

I'd be interested in that!

I like this idea. It could be a campaign for all forums. Expect maybe sci-fi, however a Star Wars X-wing with Isreali markings might look cool.

If Yoda such great Jedi be…
Why not he in full sentences can speak?

If broadening the field is aimed at, why not middle-east wars / conflicts 1945 – present. This covers just about every piece of armour- and aircraft manufactured during and after the second world war. If the campaign is for all spheres then this is it, if not, well choice ie. a piece of equipment is most certainly not limited.

Personally, I think keeping the Arab-Israeli Wars theme is better. When putting together the Cold War Cook-Off Campaign idea - the broad scope was enough for some people to complain that it was too broad. Some like to play in a little sandbox - others like to play in a big sandbox - you can't please them all. But, if the theme is easy and a little more specific - like Israel and the conflicts waged against Israel - then more modelers "know" what to build.

What equipment exactly was used during the 1973 war ?
I guess T54, T55 ant T62s were probably used on the arab side.
I'd say Centurion and... Magach (?) on the israely side...
Shirion, could you tell us more ?

I dont mind a geeneral say 48 through present. I think the Idea of an across the forum campaign is great. as far as eyqipment during 73 its easier to ask what wasn't there on the
IDF side you have enemy side you have

M48a2 upgraded T54/55/62
M48a3 upgraded Btr 50/ot62/152
M60a0 SAM2,3,6
M60a1 Bmp1,brdm
M50 and all the sundry russian support
M51 stuff
M113
M3,5,9, halftracks
T54/55
BTR 40/50/152
m38 jeeps M151 mutts including a1
Gmc trucks ,M35 M54
40mm aa,hawk

I think there is enough for everyone, aircraft list is just as long and there are loads of figures available
