I can read some Japanese and the can says 'Rock Poly Putty' (if you're referring to the stuff at about 6:30). After doing some research all I found was the company's website:

リンクトゥペジ

I hope it still helps though!

Hey Brockuppercut- short answer is I cant help you.

Sebastians translation "poly putty" I believe means polyester putty.

If you could get someone in sales here:

http://autobodystore.net/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=FM

to view that video. I bet someone at Evercoat would be able to match the properties to one of their products.

Looks like it would be really useful material.

Recheck the video link. There are some text comments saying what it is. One says this stuff is extremely toxic and can be absorbed through the skin.

I don't know one way or the other if that's true, but it would be worth finding out.

Yeah, I saw that but the problem is if it is polyurethane or polyester resin neither of those is particularly toxic (I mean, you don't want to eat either of the components or rub them on your face but they really are not all that bad). Could it have been a poor translation?

What I have to wonder is if this stuff isn't to some extent water soluble. You notice in one part of the video that the sculptor is using some clear liquid to thin the putty and ROCK's website makes a point of the fact they produce low VOC "water based" paints. Is that true of their putty as well?

BTW, I did some web searching too and asked a question or two on a couple of automotive web pages but so fare no one has heard of ROCK paint.

Man, if anyone finds a source for this in the US or even just outside of Japan let us know!
