I was going to title this topic "Seen any good movies lately?" but lately I haven't seen many good ones. Mrs. Keenan and I watched the following this weekend:

"The Day the Earth Stood Still," the new one, don't bother. Rent the original. They never once said "Klattu. Barda. Nitkow. Enough said.

"Quarantine," is like the "Blair Witch Project" meets "Wolfen." I did a crossword puzzle.

"The Changeling" is actually worth watching. Google "Gordon Stewart Northcott" after you watch the movie.

So chime in and tell me what to rent next weekend.

Haven't rented a movie in a while, but watched "Children of Men" on TV last night... well started watching anyway. I got as far as Clive Owen's character entering the Fugi township before switching off and going online instead. Boring stuff - I thought the opening scene of the coffee shop being blown up was as exciting as it got.

If you like action...."Taken" is a fast paced thriller with Liam Neeson.

I agree that it did not do the original any justice, but if you watch the scene where Klaatu/Keanu first arrives, he says that line to Gort to stop his attack right after he is shot.

The wife rented Changling, we'll see it tonight.

Last weekend, we wnt to see Slumdog Millionaire, quite a good movie, much more than the previews suggest. There was a lot of action as well as the love story. Well worth your time.

Last night, I stayed up to watch 10,000 BC. Let's see...Quest for Fire meets Lord of the Rings, with a bit of Braveheart and the structure of Mongol thrown in for good measure. It was almost worth the cost of having it available on HBO.

Saturday night, I watched Lakeview Terrace with Sam Jackson as a burned out LA cop who develops a really bad attiftude to the bi-racial couple that moves in next door. Very good. It was rated PG-13 but Jackson should have been alloweda few of his trade mark Mo-Fo's to get up to the R it really should have been.

Couple weeks ago, I watched Taking Chance on HBO, wherein Kevin Bacon is a Marine Colonel escorting the remains of a fallen Marine to their hometown from Dover. Very touching and upl;iftingf film based on a real event.

Completely missed it Rob.
I have "Taking Chance" on the DVR but haven't had an opportunity to watch it yet.

I saw 'Taking Chance' recently as well. VERY good film...

Also saw Watchmen in IMAX....WOW, what a movie, very good.

I know 'The Day The Earth Stood Still' is going to suck, but I will rent it when it's out just because. I'll do the same with Valkyrie.

Frozen River...indy film about a white woman whose husband has abandoned her and her two sons for Atlantic City with the money for a new double wide. She winds up in an alliance with a youbng Mohawk woman who is part of a group smugglng aliens into the States via the reservation which straddles Cananda and New York, Melissa Leo, (who was Kay Howard on Homicide: Life on the Street) was deservedly nominated for best actress. Definitely worth a look.
