I simply factor the seller's S&H into my max bid. Its really not a "rip off" IMHO. If someone wants it bad enough they'll pay the charge. If not the seller will have to re-list or it won't sell.

Well said Henk. I could not have said it better.
I have a store on ebay. Use to have over 2000 items listed, but ebay fees killed me and I reduced my product on ebay to under 500 items listed and I finally took the 900.00+ monthly fee I seemed to have been giving ebay monthly and went back to school for web designing. Now I have a true online store front that is making as much as I was making on ebay.

I know exactly how you feel . Models can be shipped to Canada by USPS "Priority mail International" for about $25.00 for a 1/72 scale aircraft, or about $5.00 via USPS "First Class Mail International". I deal only with sellers who will ship by the less expensive way, but still encounter some who will charge for more than actual weight and pocket the difference. I have also dealt with some who have overestimated weight but sent an unrequested refund. Canadian postal rates, on the other hand, are exorbitant enough to shut down all commerce.

I'm with you on this one Bill and ED. Postage/Shipping are killers to the wallet, & some do try to take advantage with higher costs. I cannot comment much on eaby, Never dealt with anyone on there, although I did take a look around there once and could not believe the people were biding so much on a kit . I wasnt impressed . I'll stick to this Site, LHS and some on line stores to fill my modeling needs . milvehfan

i bought some paint from ebay this past week. the shipping cost was 5.50 and it said priority mail. when it arrived the price sticker on the stamp said 2.50 and it was shipped parcel post. basically i paid for an extra bottle without getting it. since there is only one hobby store in my area and they dont sell vallejo, i have no choice but to buy online. so i use ebay if the price isnt completely outrageous. i cant use some of the other online stores because the shipping is higher then these people on ebay that overcharge

You should ask for money back or lodge a complaint with eBay. If the listing says Priority Mail, then anything else is fraud. Start nice, then get tough.

Hi.

I was in my LHS store and boy the prices were cheap, cheaper than online. The store's nothing special a warehouse just outside of town. Cardboard boxes piled against the wall with the contents hand written on the box. At the checkout the real friendly owner told me how much the kits were going to cost me. Giving him the cash I was then charged:
$5.00 for the freight to get the kits to his store.
$3.50 contribution for the rent.
$2.50 to cover his electricty costs.
$7.50 for his time to serve me
$1.50 to cover his phone costs.
He gave the plastic bag for free. (What a guy.)

I thought "way cool...just like buying on eBay".

Have a good day.
Cheers
