Hi, I am going to Bangkok in the spring and while I am there I might go to some cheap plastic model shops if there are any. I have not been able to find anything but RC hobby stores on the net so far.
Can anybody help with info on possible hobby stores in Bangkok, Thailand?
Any help is really appreciated

I never saw one when I was there. But since I can't read Thai, I wouldn't know if I even passed one. But when you go there, enjoy the Tuk-tuks. It is an experience you will never forget, and the only way to really get around. They can cut your travel time around the city in half. But it still will take a long time to get anywhere. The night market (Phat Pong) might be a place to try. Chatachuk market might be another place to try. They say you can find anything at Chatachuk, but it is really really huge. Maybe about a square mile.

A little

but if single well some good nightlife is around there.
Might even come back with a new bride.
But if married well forget the whole thing.

Thanks for the comments, guys. I am bringing my own entertainment (girlfriend), so I will stay away from local entertainment

First off, apologies for not responding earlier.
OK, there is a Tamiya store in an area of Bangkok called "RCA", just ask any cabbie and he will take you there. Other than that there really isn't much that I know of, the Central store at the Chitlom BTS station has a model section in the toy section, used to be bigger but has been reduced lately but still has a decent selection. It is also a good place for paints, accessories etc.
Hope this helps you a bit.
Good hunting!

Thanks for the reply, Kevin. Are prices generally lower than the usual prices on the internet? I need to know how much empty space there should be in my suitcase for models when I travel to Thailand.

Dragon 1/35 goes for 800 - 1000 baht, you'll have to do your own exchange rates. Can't remember the Tamiya prices but hey, half the fun is looking.
I honestly can't guarentee anything as I am working in Afghanistan right now and only check the shops on my way home to Samui.
Best of luck and doing anything in Bangkok is always an adventure!

In Bangkok the store with the best range of plastic model kits is on the 3rd floor of "The Mall" shopping center in Ngam Wong Wan Road. It is about 40 minutes from the city center if the traffic is moderate. The prices are reasonable and the selection is terrific. The taxi fare would be about 200 Baht.
The other place that also has a reasonable selection of plastic kits is in the toy department of the Central Chidlom Department store. This store is well known and is in Sukhumvit Road which is in the city center.
Regards
