Hello, I'm Zack and I'm a sci-fi wargamer looking for something to test my model-making skills. Hence why I'm here- I got bored of the techniques used in my corner of model making and decided I could get better.

I intend to try just about everything, but I already have lots of experience in figure painting. I could get better there anyway.

If anyone has heard of Warhammer 40,000 then that's what I've been doing for the past 3 years. It involves building models such as tanks and infantry but also involves strategy gaming. Its extremely involving, something I'm sure anyone here can sympathize with.

I intend to work in all areas, naval/aircraft/armor etc. I have experience with tools and modifications (plentiflul in my hobby- although they are called conversions) and basic assembly, although I must confess I'm much better at painting than putting a tank together. Wouldn't hurt to start from the beginning.

Anyone have any good advice on where to start? Thanks Everyone!
-Zack

Hi Zack and welcome to Kitmaker, If you're into Warhammer conversions a lot of techniques and tools will be familiar to you already. Incidentally check out Modelgeek Scifi forum and HF for warhammer builds.

G'day Zack,

Welcome to Kitmaker

You'll find yourself in good company here, as although most of us are military modellers, I'm sure most of us have dabbled with WFB and W40K

Yes, yes I do know where to start....here at KitMaker. WELCOME ABOARD!!!

Remember, all your modeling needs can be found here!

If you're into Tanks and AFVs, then ArmoramA is your bivouac!

The AeroScale tarmac is for the Planes and Helos.

Fast cars, tough trucks and cool choppers all hang out at AutoModeler !

Need some salt spray in your hair? ModelShipwrights hangs out at the Pier.

Sci-fi? Trains? RPG Figures? Chill with the gang at ModelGeek

Figure Modelers all hang in Historicus Forma where skin tone is the trick.

All here at KitMaker!

Not to mention...

6th Scale and the Action Figure officianadoes
IPMS British-Kitmaster and the British Bulldogs!
The So Cal, suntanned, Miniature modelers hang out at SCAHMS

So, dig in, start gluing, take pics, which, incidentally, you can store here too, at KitMaker's Gallery Space.

So jump in and do it all!

Hi mate.

Fellow newbie here, just thought I'd welcome you aboard. I think this website is going to take up almost as much of my time as the modelling. It's great!
