Hi

further to information I posted in another topic I thought I'd post this piece of news as a separate topic. Whilst looking at the White Ensign site

http://www.whiteensignmodels.com/brochure/whats_new.htm

Quote "We've just received notification that all Tamiya prices are increasing in the region of 25% on 1st February!"

Given the current financial climate this is a bad move on Tamiya's part even if maybe a necessary one.

I don't know if this applies to the UK only, and in that context (compared to comments from modellers in other countries,) they have been in the middle ground as regards pricing. This will now put them in Dragon country as it where.

I have read criticism of Tamiya's prices in places like the US before, being more expensive than Dragon etc. but with not as detailed or parts laden kits. If this is to be a worldwide price increase then it will only drive more modellers into the arms of their competitors.

As if they aren't already expensive enough, now they go and raise them when every retailer is struggling. I don't like to shop outside of my LHS, but the price increases from all of the manufacturers have driven me overseas or to stop buying kits that I am only mildly interested in building.

I purposly dont buy Tamiya kits today .. as their prices are way too high for whats in the box. A 25% price hike just makes me laugh ..... who are they kidding!

It really sucks for those of us that build 1/48! Until Italeri and AFV Club kits start showing up, Tamiya is about it. Oh, I forgot those wonderful HobbyBoss kits.

Meh.

So much for the myth of deflation.

Ah well. As slow as I build, I'm not sure how hard this will hit the pocket book. I'll just keep a more watchful eye open for those sales.

I just checked Tamiyas website and I don't see any price increase, at least not in the 1/48 kits.
