I recently read that longtime admired Scratchbuilder "barv" (Steve Cruickshank snr) left us to pursue Heavenly builds. (We will so miss you Steve!)
I was such a fan of watching Steve do his builds. His skills were just so advanced that he made it look possible for ANY of us to do the same.
I, personally, think it IS possible for any of us to use our imaginations and, maybe, a technical drawing or two and a pile of material and scratchbuild a model.
So, I'm going to try to do two things here.

Inspire a tribute to our friend and fellow modeler, Steve, who passed away this last August,
and,
carry on his idea that ANYONE can scratchbuild a model.

So, I propose campaign, first hosted by Steve back in Sept '06, called ACUTR(the first) The link is to the original campaign, because I want to mimic it.
Same exact campaign. Same parameters. Same everything. "You choose ......you build ....you show!! "

Lemme hear you all say "HEY! I can do that!"

Steve would be the first to sign up, I think, so, sign your name to this in his spirit of modeling, sharing and comraderie.

"ACUTR again, Salute to Steve snr!"

What do you guys think?

Right? Steve had some awesome subject-builds. The dozer, the recovery vehicle that he was working on last, ALL of his stuff was just awesome. He did in-progress shots to enlighten us on how the scratchbuilding was done. He really inspired me and gave me ideas and techniques that I use while I cut and glue all the time.
He came up with the first ACUTR build. I think this would be a fitting tribute.

C'mon all! Let's hear ya!

Murphy

Steve was in the throws of helping me get to grips with some of my own attempts at scratch with my DAF DROPS. If my understanding of the "SCRATCH" rules Steve had set up it would be possible for me to get back on this project within this campaign.

It would be great if I could as I do need to push myself on with the DAF. If I got to the end of the build it would feel great that it was really with his help I got there.

If so can I add my name to the list?

So, if I submit this one (or, get someone else to), can I get 10 "Hell yeahs!"?
I think a lot of Steve's admirers will sign up for "ACUTR Again"

Keeping it out there.

I'd join. I'm about as "novice" as you can get, but I have really been bitten but the scratch bug.

Hi all
I'm sure dad would be honoured at this campaign being continued in his name.
I started my model of the Kozma Minn armoured train but never got round to finishing it , so I would definitely be up for it just to prove some of his scratching is in my blood

You have another partisapant here Aye

Thanks Steve! I'm glad you saw this and totally happy you're on-board.

Should we even keep the start/finish dates the same (Originally Sept. 1 2006 to Sept. 31 2007...essentially, a year and a month long)? Or, bring it a bit closer with start time, say March 1, 2009 to March 31, 2010?
My finger is over the "Campaign Submit" button.. just need a time stamp.

I'd opt for sept to sept.... there's alot already going right now.... if we wait awhile it might prompt more people to join in. I'm gonna be a busy person with models the next few months.......

Plus with the better weather I'll be doing woodworking as opposed to models... (I've got cabinets to make and I'm not heating the garage)

That sounds brilliant!

I'll do up the form and submit it, if no-one has any objections!

[edit] Submitted! Keep an eye out for the enlistment announcement![/edit]

@Calvin-
Of course you can join. Just keep an eye out for the official thread announcing it and it'll show you where to enlist.

Hi there Murphy

For my own sake only here, If the start date ain't soon my DAF would never get completed as I need the oomph to get me going on this again. If it were start in the next couple of month and to complete by August 2010 I feel it would save this campaighn being forgotten about and some serious scratchbuild chances missed.
