My kid had a blow-up (inflatable) ball pit with about 150 red, blue, green and yellow hollow balls. When we finally got tired of picking up the balls from the rest of the house, we chucked the inflatable part and 125 of the balls. The last 25 or so, went into a box in the workshop because I knew there would be a use for them somehow, someday. The diameter of the balls are about 4 inches-if cut right in half-but, if you go off-center, you would have cut yourself a dish-type object and if you cut the ball right, you could maybe get 4-6 dishes out of one ball.
Check Salvation Army stores or dollar stores for a hollow ball in the toy section. Usually the material they are made of is resistant to glue, but, some roughing up with sandpaper on the surface to be glued sometimes helps. The problems of gluing CAN be overcome.
But, that's my idea, I hope it inspires.

To be complete
The Plastruct ref VHD-175, the OD is 44.5mm (1.75'') in 1:1 is 140 cm, the ID is 38.1mm (1.5"), in 1:1 is 133cm diff with in diameter is 6.4 mm height is 7.9mm
well the normal 1:1 direct tv satellite dish dimension is H 18.1” W 20.4” so it will to big in OD
I will check to night at home
Cheers

.67 inch diameter cross section of a ping pong ball = roughly a two foot diamter dish.
