Hi all,

This is the the AFV M41 Gun cover that I am using for the vehicle.
There is this moulding seam line that I tried very hard to remove using the tamiya hobby knife but it did not work. I tried sanding it but it did not work as well...

anyone out there knows a way that will remove this seam line without damaging the detail ?

Thanks !

Scrape it with a #11 blades, any lost detail can be replaced with re-carving in the folds.

I would use the back side of a #11 blade (as Dave suggests). I would use it for the easy stuff, then I would use a dental pick to carefully scrape out the recessess.

This problem came up when the Skybow M41 kit was released, which included the simulated canvas mantlet cover in the box (AFV originally made you buy it separately--not sure about their more recent boxings). A magazine reviewer solved the problem handily. Assuming it is still the glueable styrene/vinyl blend, you can apply a little liquid cement to the seam and soften it, then tamp it down a bit with the brush. Repeat if necessary.
Incidentally, the German M41 kit from AFV Club is a re-release of the Skybow kit rather than AFV Club's own (it still has the cover, but I believe it has a styrene gun tube rather than aluminum).

When I built mine, I froze the part and worked the seam away a little at a time. It took repeated sessions, but got it done.

Sorry, thought it was resin, or plastic. Didn't know it was the dreaded vinyl contraption.

You could chuck out the vinyl part & scratchbuild your own from epoxy putty. That produces a much better product.
