Hi!

I'm about to make my first scratchbuildt model. I got a lot of pictures of the vehicle I'm modeling, but, how do I (in a easy way) find the size of things in the different pictures. If all the picures was in the same scale I could only measure and convert, but when all the pictures is in a different scale (size) how sould I do it?

I know some reference measurements like the length of the vehicle, the height of the wheel and so on.

If someone know a good way to find the scale size of things, please share them!

Go to page 2 of this forum (scratchbuilders) and go to the post titled "Excel Tool for scale measurements from photos".

Hopefully that will help you out.

Thanks, that shuld be a nice tool if I could use excel spreadsheets. I don't use ms office or other ms products if I can help it (I'm a bit strange about that...). I tried it in openoffice but it's not working quite right.

I think I have to sit down and program me a new tool...

http://jaypee.org.uk/ModelScalefromPhotos_v1.0.xls
or google docs

What exactly is the problem?

I got it to work. I didn't try hard enough to understand it.

Kind of hard to measure things on the computerscreen, I have to many pictures to print them all...

In the search for a simpel and easy tool to measure scale directly in a picture I was amazed that such a program did't exist!

So I desided to do something about it!

Is there anyone out there that want to beta test a small, and not finished, Measure Sizes In A Picture Program? It will be ready for first testing very soon.

Certainly I'd like to see that so I'm willing to be a guinea pig. Are you thinking of an image viewer / scaler in one program?

Yes. It's a image measuring and scale program in one. I'm almost done with the measuring part, a few days and the program should be ready for first field testing. I'll send you a PM when it's ready, ok?

Great. I'll need to get some known measurements to try it out on. Cheers JP
