Colonel Ripley has passed on. He was a fine Marine and a true hero.

Ripley was an advisor to the Vietnamese Marines in 1972. After receiving a "hold and Die" order, he and a battalion of about 600 Viet Marines held back 20,000 North Vietnamese troops at the bridge at Dong Ha.

He was an amazing officer.

RIP, Sir.

yes Col Ripley was a Marines Marine. who's name will go down in the history of the Marine corps...
It was my great honor to get to know Col Rip as he was My Regt commander while I was with one of the Bn STA pltoons who trained up with the 2nd regt quite a bit and recently chatted with him as late as August. the man was a superman and yet very approachable no ego there and yet he had all the bragging rights anyone could have.
A great example of a leader and a god fearing man.
