I was flossing last night and had a revelation. I stopped, took it out and stared at it. "This could be used for rope to hold items down on my tank!"

Has anyone else tried use floss for various functions on their models? Does it work?

Depends on the brand. A lot of the flosses I have used are to flat and to smooth. I prefer to use thread. But hey- if your band looks good - go for it.

One other use of floss is a 'saw' for styrene. Thinner styrene is cut very easily using floss. Loop ends around your fingers and make a sawing motion along your line on the styrene.

one off my other hobbies is fishing and i was thinking along those lines but useing braid instead

Have you looked at wire leaders? You might be able to use them for tow cables, power lines, or any other place wire needs to be depicted.
