What is the typical diameter of antennas on modern, western armored vehicles such as the M1A1 or Merkava, etc? I'm trying to figure out what would be correct for 1/35 or 1/72 scale.
Thanks,
Erik

I can't tell you a measurement so wait for someone to chime in. If you don't get one tray asking int he Armor forum.
I would offer that you use guitar strings when you find the diameter. They are great to use for antenna

There are two types of long whip antennas currently in use.
The older style is a two piece antenna tht starts at about 1/2 in at the base and tapers to a point of about 1/4 inch at the top with a safety ball on the tip. to replicate these, I use 0.020 plastic rod, cut to 2 3/4 inches long and gently heat th etip until it beads up.
The newer on eis a thin antenna like a radio antenna on a car. It is a bit shorter. It can be replicated with a piece of very thin wire at 2 inches long.
