One issue that is currently annoying me is that once I have received about 100 private messages, older messages automatically disappear from the bottom of the list. Slowly, as each new message comes in, older messages are disappearing. I need to refer back to some messages received last year but I cannot, because they are no longer there.

I have noticed that as I delete messages, the older ones re-appear. I try my hardest to delete un-necessary messages, so just about every message I have I need to keep!

Can this problem be fixed? e.g put some sort of page structure in?

Also, the 'next message' button when viewing messages is disfunctional.

Chas,

The 100 post limit was introduce3d about a year or so back, to relieve the pressure on the data base and server. I was not aware that deleting posts makes older ones re-appear. I can only suggest that you save important posts separately. the 'next message' button is something that JimS will need to look into.

I've got just a handful (4-6?) of PMs that I've kept, the oldest one is from 2005. Not sure if there is an age limit or an amount number that deletes PMs.

Interesting topic.

I've had one PM string I've held onto for many months. About two (?) weeks ago, it was gone. Bummer, but I thought there may have been a time-stamp on it. However, a week ago it was back. Don't know the in's and out's of it, but I'll be "cut and pasting" important PMs to word and storing them on my HD much like Henk is suggesting...just in case.

Heheheh, now, go figure: opened a new window to check if it was there....it's not. Gone again. Crap.

100 important PM?!?

I started copying and pasting important PM's and their respective responses into .txt files way back before we could actually see our Sent Items in the PM folders.

If I may offer some advice, Chas (as if you have a choice ), don't rely on the PM system. Rather use email for important correspondense. If someone's email address is not publicly listed, just ask them for it...

Many sites that have some type of private messages limit the number you can store. We simply limit the view to 100 pm's. So if you do have over 100 and delete some of the ones that are visable, the older non-visable pm's will show up again.

It seems to work for us.

As for the next link I was unaware up till now it was broken. I will put it on the list.
