Hi,

I see a lot of people on the diorama forums after Birch seed pods/catkins.

If there is anyone in Aus who want some i have a dozen or more silver birch trees. You will have to check out with your local quarantine to make sure its ok, but as Tas has the strictest quarantine i wouldn't think it would be a problem.

Hey Angelus,

If you don't mind, I'd like to take you up on that offer - I'm guessing it would be okay to send to VIC? Maybe one of the long time residents could fill me on that?

Cheers

G'day T,

I'd also like to take up your offer, but I'm not sure about WA customs, I've never had anything sent to me from Tas before (it being overseas and all... sorry, just had to!)

I'll also need to rely on some more 'experienced'/older Aussies to fill me in...

NP guys, If you want some just drop me a pm or email with your snail mail address. I'll have a ring around tomorrow with quarantine and see if they can foresee any problems.

I have green ones still on the tree ( though whether they are developed enough i'll have to check). I should also be able to gather up a fair few dry ones from last year. Please let me know if you want some of each or just one type in the pm.

Thanks mate, I've just sent you a PM.

I've been keeping a look out for these seeds as I've heard they make quite convincing ivy or groundcover in dioramas.

Thanks for your offer, it's very generous of you.

Spoken to quarantine in both Vic and WA. Vic doesn't care what i send of the birch pod. WA will only let me send dried ones and they have to be labeled with the species name. The green ones on the trees aren't ready yet but i have heaps of dry ones from last year. If anyone wants green ones i will harvest some when they are properly developed and dry them.

Got mine today, thanks Angelus. They look great.

I should have enough for the foreseeable future, there are a lot in there!

OK the green seed pods are ready now. I had a go at drying some and they came up pretty good... Would make excellent ivy leaves.

G'day Angelus,

I have been using the seeds you sent to me, they really do look excellent as ground cover.

I will try making some sort of vine or tree foliage, when I feel I have the patience!

Thanks again.
