I'd recommend the newish Tamiya Hetzer or any of the Tamiya Marder series, they go together beautifully.

I second Pat's recommendation of a Tamiya kit. They go together quite easily

If you just want a good kit to build (not worried about super accurate) any Tamiya kit won't be a bad choice.
The Tamiya M5 Stuart was a good one. Good fit, fairly accurate, not super complex, decent figure, nice size too (won't chew up a huge amount of shelf space).
The Deuce and Half is a 'add glue and shake' Tamiya kit. It's con is price, a bit more expensive. A great base subject for a diorama.

I would recommend any of Trumpeter's KV-1 or KV-2 series of tanks for three reasons: they're cheap; they're fairly simple, not too many parts, but they look good and they're one colour so you can build up your confidence with an airbrush. With a three tone camouflage, you might bite off more than you can chew and get bogged down.
