Im looking to restart the hobby again but as im living in a high rise apartment the compressor for airbrushng has to be quiet.
I dont really want to spend $500 up - are there any reasonably quiet compressors on the market?
Sorry if this a no-brainer, but I'm going to have to buy on line as no way Im going to get one in this country!

Hi Peter,
Welcome to the Kitmaker network
You may find a better answer by posting this question in the modelling in general or the Tools and Supplies threads as this little area of the site is only accessed by those of us in the UK.
If you're really lucky one of the Moderators might move it for you
Cheers
Allen

Hi
I use one of these
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AS196-TWIN-CYLINDER-MINI-AIRBRUSH-COMPRESSOR-TANK-/170501274507
And I and more importantly the wife find it very quiet
You should be able to get one delivered to your location.

If whatever compressor you get still make too much noise, you can reduce the sound levels dramatially by simple measures like putting the compressor in a small "sound chamber".
Just put the compressor in a cardboard box which is big enough to allow for ventilation, foresee the needed holes for getting rid of the heat, cables and the like.
then you need a second cardboard box, slightly bigger than the first one and you cover the interior of that box with cardboard boxes for holdling eggs.
agin, take care of ventilation holes, etc
now plce the box with the compressor in that second box
you will find that noise will be a lot less than previously.
