I don't think they're CGI...note the doubel shadows in a couple of them.
Very neat painting none the less.

They are done on the computer. First, a "model" is made out of polygons, and then the painting and weathering is done using Photoshop or another graphics program. I wish I could print them out and put them on display, but I don't think we have that technology yet.
