I thought I'd hunt around to see if there were any local military modeler groups or online clubs based in my AO, which is the northern virginia region - I live in Alexandria, and work in Centreville near Dulles Airport in Fairfax County.

I'm one of those guys who had kids, now in family # 2 after a divorce, and I'm getting back into modeling after several decades of being "out of it"....first mil models around 1974 when 10 years old; you know - the old Monogram Pz IV's and Shermans......stopped during college years early 80's, restarted in the late '80's, quit again after marriage #1 began, and now I'm back.

Working on an "antique" Jagdtiger from Tamiya I had started in late 80's.....as well as a "new" Tamiya steel-wheel Tiger I and a Dragon late Tiger II.

OK, more later- once I have some pics to upload into a gallery!

Adam,

I have some good news. There is a very active and growing IPMS Group that meets at Fairfax High School in Fairfax City, usually on the 1st Wednesday of the month: Northern Virginia Modelers.

For August, the meeting is the 1st Tuesday of the month: August 7th at 8 PM, but people usually start showing up around 7 PM.

Hey everyone,

Sorry I am not on top of my game - keeping up with the interwebs LOL can be a challenge for this old (54?) man! I appreciate everyone's welcomes and thank you.

Mark, thanks for your tip on the local IPMS group meets at FHS - you are helpful to remind me of what I already knew about, but completely forgot!! Northern Virginia Modelers I will check out, for sure.

By the way, please notice how an entire decade passed me by, since first posting my thread. Talk about your Rip Van Winkle moments!!!
My excuse? No excuse! Maybe I've got my priorities out of whack - maybe it is the other life stuff that keeps getting in my way.

Whatever the reason, I appreciate you all and Armorama's resources for keeping me creative in the mini-modeling hobby.

Be well!
