Once you mix up the two components a chemical reaction begins which I don't think can be slowed. You can alter the amounts of ration of hardener to putty that you mix but the real solution is to only mix what you need.

Really it's just a matter of only mixing what you need at any one time. I have found that with REALLY small amounts it never hardens at all- but I think that's because of the ratio of oil from my fingertips relative to the tiny amount I'm mixing was too high!

To avoid wasting any excess I keep an ongoing milliput sculpt (eg a figure) to one side that I can apply any leftover putty to.

I've heard that putting the mixed putty in the fridge when it's still soft can slow down the hardening process but I've never tried it.

All the best

Here is a tip direct from the milliput page:

http://www.milliput.co.uk/how.htm

Quoted Text

If you are interrupted while you are mixing Milliput, you can put the Milliput into a deep freezer until you can get back to work. This will keep the product at approximately the same state of setting at which it was frozen for up to 36 hours. Simply remove the now frozen product from the freezer and warm in the hand and it is ready to use. If stored immediately on mixing it retains its sticky nature.

Not sure if this helps or not..
