Well - judging from the complete lack of any response in almost 4 weeks, I can only conclude that either nobody loves me, or nobody's going .

I`ll be there, wearing my red armourama tee shirt, if you see me, come up and say hello, and both have a beer or three.

Pat - me too.

I'll be in my usual "kid-in-a-sweetshop" mode while the Mrs goes off and does her own thing around Folkestone and on the sea front.

And Malc - your red Armorama T-shirt sounds to me as good a rendezvous point as any.

If you see a dark-haired, 6'4" chisel-jawed Adonis with the ruggedly sculpted, finely-tuned physique of a foreign legionnaire and the smouldering good looks of Richard Gere in his prime ..... that's not me (apart from the dark-haired, 6'4" bit).

I will however be wearing the grey, sleeveless "David Attenborough" safari thingy that you can probably make out in my avatar (lots of pockets for camera, wallet, mobile, notepad and other Euromil essentials).

Shall we say in the downstairs bar adjoining the competition room at or around 1 o'clock on the Saturday?

- Steve

PS Michael - that sounds like a great tour you have lined up for next year. If you have to choose between either Normandy or the Ardennes (difficult choice for sure), I'd have to recommend the Ardennes because aside from being steeped in history with lots of WWII relics, sites and monuments to see, it's also a stunningly beautiful part of the world.

I would have adopted you in our country Steve, but you preferred the other side of the Our river. Ok, it's not bad over there also.

No Euromilitaire for me, probably never again. I'm not the man going on expo trips only to watch, and with my dio i can only visit Euromilitaire again if they change the location.

Cheers
Claude

Thought you might be interested that I've loaded up some pictures from Euromilitaire 2008 on the Nameit web site -

Did you hear that we got "Best Presented Trade Stand"?
Did you also hear that Military Modelling did not allow any other publications' photographers to take any photos!!!
They have to get a DVD from Mil Mod that they cannot publish until after Mil Mod have produced their Show Special.

Best of Show was the model of a Crimean War scottish infantryman (By Elite)being "constructed" with scaffolding all around it with miniature models of himself making the model in fine detail, first shown at the AMSS show in April.
The modeller in question was Marijn van Gils.

I don't know how it got Best of Show as it didn't have a nameplate..........

That's not nice. Surely this coverage would be news, and you can't sell news? It smacks of these sport sponsorship deals where MegaDrink sews up the entire show and employs people to take your SuperGlug off you in case it shows up on TV. And you never get it back, and they don't pay you for it ... how is that not theft?

Sorry, rant over. It's not like I even go to any sports events ...

All confirmed. To match this unequalled success in PR (due no doubt to years of training in Pyongyang) i've posted a series of links and some of the more interesting quotes from the magazine Editors. It can be seen:

Oh, but it did have a nameplate (Van Gils Constructions), only this time it wasn't placed at the front of the wooden sokkels but on the back of the figure/statue. This only shows how big Marijn's imagination and eye for detail is.

indeed Gino,

It seems alot of people missed that one. I stood in awe at this figure for at least 20 minutes when i finally came across it. Here's a picture I took of the backside with the nameplate;

I took about 300 pictures at the show, you can find them here:

ps, I'm glad I had a chat with you about the use of ink when painting figures Gino!
