Howdy, all. Just wanted to let all and sundry know that I really appreciate the wonderful work that is displayed on the site...it really provides inspiration!

Been modelling since I was a kid...about 4th or 5th grade. I remember when Tamiya first came out in the market; their wired R/C 1/35th scale tanks cost somewhere between 9 and 15 bucks! A company called Aurora even made a number of AFV kits.

Anyway, there was many years I didn't do much modelling...or was working on a single project that took a lot of time. I particularly like building sailing ships...because of the amount of rigging involved, and time and patience it takes to do it. But I am also totally enamored of armored vehicles, particularly WW 2 German stuff...it's just awesome!

Well, thanks for reading this, and I hope I can post more in the future!

Did somebody say "Aurora"?

Remember back in the day when these kits were in the dollar and change range? I loved those kits and used to "play " with them in the sand box or on the carpet when I was finished building them. First kits I attempted to paint, not very well mind you.

Well, thanks everyone, for your kind words. For those who asked, I live in Northern Virginia - Centreville, to be exact. I'm originally from Ohio (A Yankee in the Rebel's court!)

Hopefully, in the relatively near future, I can upload a hodge-podge of photos of some of the models I've got around the house...I'm currently in the process of finishing up an M8 Cargo tractor of the US army...the kit was a cast-away from one of my work colleagues. In the interim, I've also bought 2, 1/72d scale Tiger I tanks...just something to keep my hands occupied, I guess. Big future plans is to buy 5 or 6 PzKW II models, the Tamiya Military Miniature series, and have myself a little DAK "platoon"...of course, that's after I pay the mortgage!!

Chat with y'all later

Hey there PZKW. Spent four years in your state at that funny little school in Lexington. Things sure have changed a lot since then. I built 700 scale ships back then and you could buy the BB's and AC's for 4 bucks back then. I too remember the early Tamiya every tank motorized kits. Thank God things have changed so much since then.

Tankshack, whereabouts in C-ville? I live 1 miles from the Multiplex there on Rt. 28

Lady Modelbuilder, out of curiosity, about how long does it take for you to finish your models? I really like your model of the Titantic...there was an exhibition last September at the Nat'l Georgraphic museum in DC, showcasing ship models (professionally built). The Titantic was in a room by itself; I'd have to guesstimate its length at better than 12 feet. I took several photos of it with my camera, but I couldn't get the whole model into a single frame, to capture the enormity of the model.
