Well, I just got a new house, and with that I have finally got a proper hobby room or "man cave" if you like. It needs a makeover, and that is what this tread will be about. "Current sit" is about 20 square meter of modeling space with "nice" blue walls, proper light and about 8 electric sockets.
The plan is to build a bench with build- and airbrush area along the wall with the windows. The wall with the cork boards will be the main stash storage area and then again to the left space for laptop, stereo, coffee maker, fridge, reference materiel etc.
The lovely blue color will be gone. I have not decided yet if I will redo the walls completely, but they will be painted white for optimal light reflection.
So, this will be a 1:1 build. I guess it will take some time to finish so all your suggestions on how to make a good hobby room will be very welcome. I'm not going for "another living room" look, but rather a workshop sort of thing. So give me your best "cave" ideas and I will see if they can be included.

Make sure the bench is near the exit as if you are like me you will not be able to get to the other end of the room after six months

Think of a spot for for your air brush fumes to ventilate if you have a spray booth. Don't forget where you will be putting the TV, Stereo, fridge, all should be in easy reach Oh, paint racks, tool racks, storage for parts, reference books.
I'm sure others will chip in. Have fun!!

Hi Erik.
I visited Janne Nilsson a few times and he has a cool work bench where its divided into 4 stations; 1) Building. 2) brush painting. 3)Photography and 4)spraying. Making the most of "Scandinavian lavish furnishings" ... or better known to most of us ... IKEA ... it turned out great. Both practical and functional!
Theres some images of it on Planet Armor.

hi erik, nice and spacious..how's the headroom? everything looks ok. one suggestion..make sure to prepare a counter /table height sockets ( convenience outlet ) for all your equipments. the one in the corner is way too low. better check also the water level in your area just in case.

Have at least two electric circuits for the room. Nothing worse than not having enough power to have fun.......
Easiest to do now when nothing needs to be moved out of the way.
Wish I had a Man-Cave insted of my cobblers bench
Cheers!

Consider having your tables made in different hights, some times its nice to be standing when doing things that dusty or when working on larger items.
In my basement i have cabinets made for hanging over the kitchen table - those with glassdoors on top and those with blank doors below to hide your stock and halfbuilts.
Congrats on your "cave"
