You have better use another kind of wood that balsa.
It's non so resistant and strong.
The only advantage is that is easy to cut and work, but it's good only for flyng aircraft models.
Try to use lime-tree or beech-wood or hickory or other similar woods.

true, but it depends on how small a model Trebuchet.
Will it be operable and what scale?
Is it a prototype model or your own design?

I don't know what the scale will be ok Stebi i'll try to find a better wood but anways I wil try to make it as historically accurate as I can and I will definanitly post WIP pics

Many years ago, when my younger son was in Cub Scouts, he an dI built a functioning catepult. It was made completely from sticks we gathered in the nearby woods. I doubt it was to scale, but it was held together with a variety of lashings made from string. The propulsion was also made from hand-made bands of twisted string.

It was an ugly sort of creation, but it could throw pieces fo hard candy (our preferred projectile) quite a distance.

If you google Trebuchet, you will find a multitude of companies that sell scaled plans. Worst case, save thier initial picture to your HD and increase/decrease size to fit the size you want....you'll get one side/view, but with a little thought and work, you'll be able to figure out the rest of the measurements. A friend and I have been contemplating making a 1/4 or 1/3 scale one for the "fun" of the 4th....should be FUN!
