I thought weŽed never see this thread, but the unimaginable has just happened. Russia go from strength to strength and its all down to a Dutch man and little Arshavin. What a team!!!
Holland didnŽt show (or get a chance to show) their earlier energy ... but Russia have really impressed.
Sorry Robert and all the other guys ... no more evenings in the pubs ... the wigs willhave to be packed away for 2 years again.

Have to say the best team won on the night, but it's sad to see the exit of Holland, and not a good way for van de Saar to end his career.

Henk, Robert - i feel your pain, or i will do when the grolsh wears off.

Well, all I can say is this loss tonight helps heal the utter dismay of being steam-rolled by Russia in the group play... Sweden is a good team, Holland a great team therefore seeing some of the same dismay in the game was refreshing. I felt embarassed for our swedish team...

Ola Guys

I can't say anything else besides that the best team has won this evening... The Dutch were an absolute disgrace. I have not seen a minute of soccer from our team where the Russians showed initiave and creativity. There was not a single moment of the nice inventive football that was played against Italy and France. So I have complete peace with how this quarterfinal was ended... strangely enough that was the general feeling in the bar this evening. Holland was nowhere. Russia played us wild. Sol Hiddink and his boys really deserved to win this evening. If anybody deserves to win this tournament then it is Guus Hiddink and the russian bears. I won't even make any form of apologies or ways to talk things smooth... Holland played like a bunch of lousy amatures tonight and the only way to reward that is to be send home.
The only guy I really feel sorry for is Bhoularouz. Lost his first child wednesday and still started in the first lineup. Holland could do better... If it was only for him.

Yep, clearly the better team won this morning (my time)
No creativity, poor use of substitutions, and a Russian outfit that wanted it more, I have to say...
Could have been a lot worse than the end score, let's be honest!
I do hope Guus and his comrads go all the way now.
Cheers

I followed it on the radio (at work), and to be honest, the writing was on the wall after just, what, 10 minutes? Holland could not keep the ball, pass the ball, or find the Russian goal (it over there, on the OTHER side of the field...) The Russians deserved their win, and I'm glad that they won it by two clear goals, because apart from that last minute fluke goal just before full time, Holland was nowhere to be seen. Indeed, if the Russian strikers would have been a bit sharper, the game would have been decided in the first half... .

Congrats Russia, and good luck in the final.

Oh well, there's always the World Cup... yeah, as if...
