A woman has just been sent a fixed-penalty notice for speeding in the city of Vigo (Spain). The camera recorded her breaking the limit in an area where the maximum (permitted) speed was 50 Km per hour.

Imagine her consternation, when the fixed penalty notice recorded her doing a Speed in EXCESS of 750Km per hour

Unfortunately, with the nature of these fines, there's NO way of appealing against them.

Having driven several times thru the city concerned, i'm surprised she got above 20km per hour... Coming close to Mach 1 was extremely impressive though...

Call me an old fogey, but somehow that just doesn't seem right or nice! Perhaps some common sense really needs to return to this overly politically, and legally correct world.

Welcome to the EU Dave. No choice apart from the "correct" one. Ask the Irish.

I assume these speed cameras record a picture of the car, and or the license plate of the speeding vehicle.

Do you honestly thing that a vehicle doing 750km/h, that the camera would get a clear shot of the plate and/or car?

Not to mention the fact that there is no car in the world, short of the salt flats jet cars, and you can count them on one hand, that can do 750km/h. There must be an appeals process. What would her fine be?? I sure as heck wouldn't be paying it!

It looks like possably a visiting Chicago policeman helped calibrate the camera. Many a ticket issued in Chicago were to people who were never in the city on the date of the alleged infraction.
