2-0 to the Swiss... wow, talk about a shock result for the contest!

Don't think anyone could have predicted tonight's result!

YouŽd actually be surprised. I donŽt find this shocking at all. They had already qualified, and topped the group so they had nothing to play for. Why risk injuries and bookings in such a game? Better to try out some experiments and field the remaning squad, and rest some of the older players. IŽm not saying Portugal went out to lose, but a result wasnŽt top of their agenda.

The same situation applys to the Netherlands, Romania game on Tues. While I would love to see the Dutch finish with 9 points a win isn't really that big a deal.
Besides seeing Italy or france eliminated would oh so sweet!

Agreed. I think every team which already qualified for the quarterfinals is going to play the 3rd game in the group with their "B" team. With nothing to loose, coaches are resting the top players, avoiding the risk of bookings and injuries and experimenting with the reserves... Today, Croatian coach is going to play Poland with 8 reserves.

Ola Guys
I agree the outcome of Swiss against Portugal wasn't that big of a surprise. For me the big surprise of the evening was the big turnaround of Turkey against Czech Republic. Coming back from a 2-0 score and winning the match in 15 minutes was a great achievement.
I think Bruckner should have changed Koller at half time for Barros. While a good player Koller is starting to get a bit too old to play with the younger players of the tournament.
But well the rest as they say is now history. Turkey congrats on your winning and reaching the quarterfinals
