I am building a german street scene and need to know how to scratch build the man hole covers. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I don't know what era you a your dio represents but a circle cut out of photo etch tread plate may work. Cut a couple indentations in the outside diameter so they could lift out of the hole, etc...

If you goto google and perform an image search for manhole covers it returns quite a few reference pics but they are not era specific. One of the returns is a company called Model Memories that makes HO scale railroad items. One of their items is photoetch manhole covers listed on this page:
