Well it was one of those days after a ride with a group of friends mounting biking . The weather was nice that day , had no worries or cares in the world ! It was a long ride , legs very sore and tired I came home lock up the car and went inside . Only to awake in the morning to find that some jerk broke into my car and stole my mountain bike ! A long with my insurance and registration and sun glass . Smeared mud all over the inside and also dump my ash tray all over the inside . I'm very up set about this . I spent 2 years of working a lot of over time to be able to build this bike and now my efforts are gone . Thank God for scale models ! It help me calm myself down and knowing that krama will get him in the end .

Terri,
So sorry to hear about your bike. I know the feeling only too well as I've had my pride and joy ripped off by some scumbag.
I only hope the guy who ripped yours off does a header into a brickwall and gets impailed by a crankarm. Or better yet the frame breaks at the head tube and he gets speared in the...well you know. As you can tell I hate thieves, hate'em.
I'll be honest, it does take a while to get over being burned, but eventually you'll get a new ride, but you always remember the one that you lost.

I know exactly how you feel! In September last year, I was up at school (Ball State). It was a nice day, Dave Letterman came to visit, and I had the day off. Anyway, I was going to my car, only to find that some schmuck(s) had tossed a chunk of concrete through my driver's side window! They stole my stereo, not even 3 months old, then got into my trunk and stole all my tools and other stuff I had in there! And my car wasn't the only one hit; there were 6 others in the same parking lot in the same night that got hit! I hope the punks who got my stereo get a nice little shock when they try to use it!

Gday Terry. This is bad news mate. What do you mean by smeared mud? Do you mean deliberate smearing it, or was it a wet morning and could be what was on their boots etc.?
Karma is good at her job. I hope it takes long enough so they have no idea it was from this incident and plead "Why me?! What have I done?!"

Thanks guys for making a Girl feel better ! I do wish that jerk will do a face stand on the asphalt ( road this is face , face this is road .. say hi ) What I really would like to do is cut his hands off . He really doesn't need them has no good use for them . My insurance will pay to fix the car , but won't cover the cost of the bike , so I'm out 3000 bucks on that one . I do have another bike on which I can go riding with , but it's not the same feeling . I will replace the the other one , build it better , faster , stronger then before . .............

Carl , that really sucks on losing all those guns . Here in Canada can't own any of those at all , can't own any guns here in Canada .

Brad , yes he smeared mud with their hands all over the inside , rained the night before .
Cheers to all who are honest in this world

post detailed pics of your bike, seriously. I build and ride too. This is a serious crime in our community. I'm sure that you are on other forums as well as this one. I thought everyone is. Someone may notice the bike.

Said to hear of this, I have the same sentiment as other posters, but sadly enough the Forumrules prevent me from venting my anger.

Of course I do not believe this is your bicycle, but I'm trying to gather information about the model and description of your bicycle.

Hi Terri,

As a fellow mountain biker myself, I can honestly say that I would die if my ride was stolen.
Make sure you do all you can to spread the word of your bike being stolen, call all the shops around where you live and post a thread at www.mtbr.com. The punk who broke into your car won't know the worth of your bike and will try and make a quick buck in a fast turn-around, more than likely in a local bike shop. If the bikeshops are made aware of it, they will spread the word and the moment it surfaces, will call the cops.

Good luck Terri,

Frank

About 8 years ago I left my car unlocked at about 2 in the afternoon outside the local watering hole.
Left my briefcase on the front seat. Someone stole it.
My Dad called me a dumb @#&^& and told me I should have locked my car. Started locking my car. Three months later someone threw a brick through the window and stole my briefcase, again. So, I was out the briefcase and a window. (No laptop in the briefcase either time, thank God.) Now I leave NOTHING of value in my truck, even in broad daylight.

/MEMB, The Ball State University Police Department did not get your stuff back? I am shocked. How did they get in your trunk?

I always lock my vehicles no matter what, and would never leave anything of value in sight. I've heard of windows being broken just to get a dollar bill laying in the poor slobs console.

Last week with out thinking I pressed the key fob and locked SWMBO and the kids in the car when I went into a shop. This activated the interior motion sensors and set off the car alarm.

When I got back SWMBO was absolutely furious about the noise which was drawing lots of attention and had a real go at me for being so stupid!

When I asked why she hadn't simply "unlocked" the car with her own key fob there was a sudden silence and she went a bit red... Then she had a go at me again!

I give up!

I used to live in a neighborhood like that. We learned to never leave anything of value in the car in sight or not and leave the doors unlocked. This way windows stay. Once a week or two weeks, there will be a homeless person snoring in your car when you have to go to work. They are stinky...
