I was told there was a pretty good model club around here. A guy I bought a bunch of resin accessories from on eBay told me about it. He said he knew the Head Fred and some other members. I asked that he forward my email, etc. to them. I never heard anything back from him or was contacted by the club. Is anybody out there?

There's one across the river in Louisville, KY http://www.mmcl.org/. They can put you in touch with any of the So. Indiana chapters, or here is a direct link to IPMS chapters in Indiana: http://ipmsusa.org/Groups_Contests/state_select2.asp?ST=IN.

Thanks Sabot! I don't know if the local club I heard about is still around. They weren't listed but maybe they weren't affiliated. I recall about 8 years ago they had a show at the local Fairgrounds. I work an afternoon into the late evening shift and most weekends so I don't get out in daylight much! I don't think there's anything remotely resembling a hobby shop around here any more although we used to have a real good one and a so-so one. Come to think of it we used to have a couple record stores and an audio equipment retailer or two. All that remains is a Hobby-Lobby department store type affair. There is no other place I can think of at all that carries models of any sort much less glue or paint. I planned to stop in to look for some supplies this weekend before work so i'll look on their bulletin board for any club information. Right now I am the only model builder around here I know of at all.

Hey Jim, I live in Franklin just North of you and if it's a model store you are loking for there's a Hobby Town USA in Greenwood that carries just about everything you can imagine. Great source for all glues, paint, materials and of course, kits.

If you need the address let me know.

Hi Jeff! I didn't know about it. Spencers in Seymour and Central Hobby and Vacuum in Columbus were the last two I frequented around here. Both are long time gone. We have a Hobby Lobby but their model section is tiny. They are Ok for some artist supply needs, but not much else. I tied a hobby store search several different ways on the Internet and came up with zilch. Since I am the only model builder I personally know recommendations were in short supply.

I used to work in Greenwood so I know the area. Let me know where it is.

Hi Jim, here's a link with all their info (second listing):

http://www.hobbytown.com/StoreLocator/States.aspx?StateID=In

It's just North of the old Cubs Food Store building on the same side of US 31. Great people and very friendly too. (No, I don't own it or work there.)

There is a Hobby Lobby store in Greenwood also, but like yours it is stocked very lightly on kits but do have a nice selection of paints, glues and such.

Many thanks Jeff! I think a road trip may be in order. You are absolutely correct on Hobby Lobby. And just like the giant lumber/hardware stores like Lowes and Menards you have to wander the store like moses in the desert just to find 2 or 3 things. It's almost impossible to find anyone to ask for help to locate things. I swear they only have 3 people working on the floor. Very frustrating!

They just told me it's at 2:00 P.M. that day but I would double check that first. She sounded a little unsure about which Saturdays it was.

Check it out here: http://indy-amps.org/
