The 5th wheel on them is pretty much the same as it was on the M25 Dragon Wagon. It is different than a civilian one in that it can move in two axis, front to rear, and side to side. I used a 1/32 civilian one (one axis, front to rear) from a truck model on mine. Not totally accurate, but it looks close enough for me. It can't be seen when the trailer is on it anyways.

The above drawing is not the type used on an M931 tractor. It is the civilian-type (single axis) as used on the M915 tractor, which is a militarized Freightliner civilian tractor. The M915 is used mainly for road hauling engineer equipment. The above is the same type I used on my M931 though, my above comments still apply on it. The M931 uses a military style, dual axis fifth wheel.

The M983 has the same style off-road 5th wheel (two axis) as the M931. They are both used off-road, as opposed to the mostly on-road M915. This type 5th wheel allows for the trailer to move around and twist to accomidate the rough terrain. One downfall though is that on-road, it vibrates and shakes more, making for a rough ride.
