The MFCA Show was a success this year, in spite of the new venue, the economy, gas prices, and the World Expo in two months. If you want to see a great set of photos, Al LaFleche did an outstanding job here: http://s93.photobucket.com/albums/l76/ajlafleche/SBS/MFCA08/

I will let the photos speak for themselves.

If you want to see comments about our show go to the forums at the Planet Figure and Time Lines web sites:

http://www.planetfigure.com

http://www.timelinesforum.com/

You will see the figures had great quality. Comments have been made there are fewer certificates and more golds awarded than in the past.

Personally I thought the new facility was excellent. Yes, we would like more light on the figures; something that has to be worked out. The main foyer, where registration was held, has a lot more light but a possible security issue. The room we used for the competition was locked overnight. The area of the Chase Center is undergoing new construction and remodeling along the "River Walk" with restaurants for lunch or dinner.

The Hospitality Room was as busy as ever. This year we replaced all the smoking with the humidity of the swimming pool since we had a balcony over the pool room. But it was the usual time to smooze and gather information about fellow modellers, techniques, or resources.

The MFCA gang wants to thank all who supported us on this new episode in its long history.

Thanks,Joe, on the comments on the pics and more on the work you and your guys did on the show.

The funniest thing that happened to me over the weekend was at supper Saturday night. My travelling buddy and I went to Joe's Crab Shack (a high energy Red Lobster type restaurant) near the Chase Center. As we were finishing our meal, this humanoid, in brown plaid shorts, do rag, three teeth and a Heinekin asks if he can sit with us. Since we were just about done, we said okay. A moment later, the manager, built like a linebacker, swoops out of the kitchen area and bum-rushes this guy away, with a "I need to speak to you over here." He returns all apologetic and says they'd been alerted to this guy when he tried to sit at a table. My friend and I kept laughing that with all the pretty women in there, wait staff and customers, we get chosen by a derelict.
