I learned that the VC, Victor Charlie, Viet Cong, were actually "professionally" named the National Liberation Front.

Interesting tidbit that should brighten your day!

Yup they also were set up by the North Viet Namese during the famous "Tet" offensive...the NVA wanted them out of the way for their eventual take over

In fact, during the tet offensive, and the subsequent south-vietnamese and american counter attack, the VC suffered a lot. It took them a lot of time to reorganise after that.
