I've taken my son to Squadron every year that I've been home for Scalefest. (Unfortunately this year will not be one.) The ladies there would even recognize him from one year to the next. The food there is worth the visit, but the deals on models... I always walk away a few hundred bucks lighter.
The above cited page advertising the show leaves out a few other good museums for modelers:
http://www.texasescapes.com/FortWorthTexas/Pate-Museum-of-Transportation.htmThe Pate Museum also has a few aircraft and armor pieces. If you swing around southwest on 820 to 377 it' s not that far a drive.
There's also this one:
http://www.cavanaughflightmuseum.com/I photographed a fully opened up P-51 on my last visit there, and they were good enough to lower the flaps on a C-47 for me to photograph. As an added bonus, the Liberty Belle was there on that day also.
For those planning on making a weekend of it, I'd hit those two, and possibly JRB NAS Fort Worth as well.
