Shackles

Hi I need some very small schackles Screw pin type. for a crane that I scratch built. I need various sizes from about 1/4 in and smaller. Does anyone know where I can get some. I have attempted to make some but don't like the look.

Hi it is easy to make shackles , all you need is plastic card sandwiched in alternative layers of colour , I use black and white . This has to cure for at least a week , then all you do is drill the larger hole vertical and the pin hole horizontal , you must get your spacing right , and the rest is carve the shape out . cheers ian

I've made some using wire. Bend the wire into the shape you need then flatten out the ends slightly with a pair of pliers then drill some holes.
I have found that aluminum works best (or even solder) it is tough drilling the holes in brass or copper.

Same idea for the part that screws into the hole, Cut your wire to size then flatten one end, and drill a small hole through that.

Thanks I will try both methods. I had tried bending some wire but they didn't look real.
